Ceramic artists are frequently caught and then critiqued for being referential to the trade. This work is about the nature of pottery being the code source, so to speak, for all ceramics. But wasn't Galway Kinnell, the poet, ripped by his peers for the ending of his poem 'The Bear'? It is the same thing in many ways. What I am fond of in this poem, and I am speaking about mine, is that the crown is given to our collective history.
