The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has a nice small group of works by the Chelsea Keramic Art Works of Massachusetts, late 19th Century. The shape of those forms, plus a very lovely Verreries Daum glass vase from the same period in Nancy, France owned by the Philadelphia Museum of art, gave inspiration for this work. I was trying to fuse those forms with the alien characters from Toy Story, the one's found in the arcade game. This is a curious glow in the dark resin, over a chrome green glaze. Seems fitting, 'early American'.
